Paradoxical Theory of Change

“The sense of what is wrong carries with it, inseparably, a sense of direction toward what is right.”

Eugene Gendlin

Are you feeling stuck in your life? Would you like to connect more deeply with others and have more meaningful relationships? Or perhaps you'd just like to experience more joy, ease and meaning in your life. You are not alone. When we are out of alignment with our deepest truths and lack clarity on what makes us feel truly happy and alive, it can show up in the form of anxiety, depression or a pervasive sense that there is something missing in our lives.

I work with individuals and couples to explore what is keeping you from flourishing and what’s preventing you from living the life you want. Together, we will explore your unhealthy patterns and what keeps you stuck so that you can experience deeper, more meaningful connections with yourself and others.

A little bit about me

I am deeply familiar with what it feels like to question your own worth, to live with a nagging feeling of being inadequate and to hold a deep fear of being seen for who you really are. If it wasn’t for the gift of therapy, I might still feel that way today.

Although my approach to therapy is rooted in Gestalt (the whole is more than the sum of its parts), I integrate a variety of therapeutic styles and modalities to accommodate each individual’s process of thinking and feeling.

I earned my master’s degree in Psychology Counseling from California Institute of Integral Studies and hold a BA in Journalism from University of Oregon. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in the advertising industry and when I wasn’t working at my day job, I taught Vinyasa yoga. I have a scruffy little terrier named Lucy who shares my office with me.

Individual Therapy

I work relationally to support my clients in reconnecting to who they are at their core and to help them discover unhealthy patterns and ways they may be holding themselves back from living a more authentic and heartfelt life and experiencing more meaningful relationships.

Therapy

Couples Counseling

Couples often get stuck in unproductive and painful patterns that can leave you both feeling misunderstood, hurt and lonely. I can help you learn new ways to communicate that will build trust, intimacy and a deeper bond and sense of partnership.

Fees & Payment

My fee for an individual 50-minute session is $200, and for couples it is $250. Rates are pro-rated for 60, 75, and 90 minute sessions if more time is necessary.

Depending upon availability, sliding scale is available for those in financial need or while in transition.

I currently accept  payment in the form of cash, checks, and credit cards. Payment is due at the time of service.

Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider. Depending on your insurance, you may be eligible for reimbursement for mental health services.  If you would like to use your insurance, I can provide you with a monthly superbill (a detailed receipt for services) to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Scheduling

For treatment to be most effective it is important to be consistent. Individual sessions are most often 50-minutes, at least once a week and on a regularly scheduled day and time. For best results, I recommend starting with a minimum of a 6-month weekly commitment (recommendation length may vary depending on goals.)

Couples sessions are also most effective once weekly and also require a commitment to a regularly scheduled time and day. Typical length varies on needs and availability, and range from 50-90 minutes.
